it!" -R K

2(b). QUESTIONS -
to consider asking during the employment process:
Why is
this position available? What happened to the person who previously held it? If the
position is open because the previous person was promoted, then obviously this
organization could offer an interesting opportunity. If it is a newly created position,
then it could offer both opportunity and challenge.
What advancement or
learning opportunities are available? Assuming that you perform your responsibilities in
an exemplary manner, what would be your next logical step? Listen to the interviewer
carefully on this one. If other positions are mentioned as possibilities, then it is
likely there is upward mobility within the organization. If the interviewer is vague about
such possibilities, you may be accepting a dead-end position.
How is performance
rated? How often will I be reviewed, evaluated and by whom? The answer to this one will
give you insight as to what the company/organization expects.
What special
requirements will be expected of me that are not included in the job description? Be
sure that you are prepared to assume all of the responsibilities and requirements. Know
what you are getting into, such as travel/weekends.
